With the start of February, executing a high-volume transaction in Palestine Stock Exchange PEX on the leading stock of the Arab Palestinian Investment Company APIC of 4.94 million shares has raised the trading value in this week. Whereby, executing such transactions in this routine period may be related to repositioning reasons on specific stocks and sectors during the dividends distribution announcements period. While trading was active in this week on the largest investment company in the PEX by market capitalization- Palestine Development and Investment Company PADICO-. On another hand, Al-Quds Index declined below the 500 points level, closing at 499.01 points; down by 0.69% after trading in a relatively narrow range. Regarding the PEX’s indicators, some of the important news this week is the start of announcing the dividends distribution recommendations by the listed companies.
Regarding the significant news of this week, the listed companies started to raise their recommendations regarding distributing dividends for the shareholders for the year 2024. Where, in the industry sector, the board of directors of the Golden Wheat Mills Company GMC raised a recommendation to the general assembly, which will be holding a meeting on 29/04/2025, to distribute 5% cash dividends for the year 2024, to record dividends yield of 6.58% based on the current market price.
Regarding the economic indicators and according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics PCBS, the overall Industrial Production Index IPI in Palestine with its Base Year (2019) reached 80.01 in 2024, which indicates a sharp decrease by 19.84% compared to 99.81 in 2023. IPI for 2024 sharply deceased due to the sharp decrease in the activities of manufacturing industry by 21.77%, the activities of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 11.22%, and the activities of mining and quarrying increased by 4.91%, While, the activities of water supply, sewerage, waste Management and Remediation increased by 2.61%.
