Dr. Abdel Malek Jaber presented his resignation of Palestinian Telecommunication Group as chief executive of the group, during the board meeting that had been held in Amman on 27/1/2009. Al-Jaber said that the resignation of the company is normal in light of the Board of Directors approval of the strategic partnership with ZAIN. He said it is usual and natural that the majority of the owners of the company to designate the chairman of the Board of Directors in addition to the Chief Executive. Al-Jaber said that his decision was in light of his own personal initiative and from purely professional standpoint, as he wanted to give ZAIN the opportunity to decide the person of the Chief Executive of the new company in the light of changing the ownership of PALTEL group after the strategic partnership between the group and ZAIN. The partnership agreement includes launching to new regional markets in addition to owning the group by the new company. Al-Jaber added that like this issue not applies to the rest of senior positions and managers and senior staff members who will inevitably be at the top of their work and therefore will retain their positions for a period of three years at least.
