Al-Quds Index continued its increase in this week as well, to end the week in the green zone; up by 0.79% than its previous weekly closing level, to close at 659.28 points, after trading in a relatively narrow range. Regarding the liquidity levels, the institutional transactions were absent this week, while, the blue-chips and other stocks witnessed activity in their trading. On another hand and with the end of June, the anticipation increases by all kinds of investors for the semi-annual financial data disclosures of the listed companies, especially with the distinguished disclosures that were announced for the end of Q1 2026.
Regarding the economic indicators and according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics PCBS, the overall Consumer Price Index CPI for Palestine during May 2026 recorded a decrease by 0.40% compared with April 2026 (by 0.97% in the West Bank, and by 0.32% in Jerusalem. While, the index increased by 0.30% in Gaza Strip). On the other hand, the Palestinian CPI during May 2026 decreased by 36.96% compared with May 2025 (59.96% in Gaza Strip. While, the index increased by 3.21% in Jerusalem, and by 2.69% in the West Bank).
Regarding the economic indicators as well, the Consumer Price levels in Palestine witnessed a clear shift during the fourth quarter of 2025, with data showing a deflation rate of approximately 33.8% year-on-year, compared to 37.0% in the previous quarter. This significant decline is attributed to the implementation of the first phase of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This facilitated the entry of goods into Gaza, leading to an improvement in goods supply and a noticeable decrease in prices. The annual deflation rate in the Gaza Strip reached approximately 57.9%. Similarly, the West Bank experienced a slight decrease in the overall price level, with a deflation rate of around 0.2% during the same period. However, the Palestinian Monetary Authority PMA anticipated price stability during the first quarter of 2026.
