Ministry of Communications:"Wataniya Mobile" will get 4.8 megahertz frequencies

The deputy minister of Communications and Information Technology Suliman Alzuhairi assured yesterday that the second cellular operator in Palestine "Wataniya Mobile" will attain 4.8 megahertz of frequencies, expressing his hope that the operating startup will be within a period that doesn’t exceed the beginning of next year. This came within the press conference that had been organized by the Ministry in it"s headquarter in Al- Beireh, to discuss some details in the agreement that had been signed with the Israeli party regarding granting the frequencies to the company. Alzuhari mentioned that (650) will be the number of the new company, noting that the ministry attained 8 million numbers under the agreement within the mentioned series, and Wataniya will get a package from them. And added: we will set aside a series from these numbers to the company within steps, where it will attain 1 million numbers for each category. He clarified that the company will 2.4 megahertz on the scale of 900 starting from August, and 1.2 megahertz on the scale of 1800 by next January, and 1.2 megahertz on the scale of 180 by the next March. And added: the company has the ability to operate directly by the scale of 3.8 megahertz. Alzuhairi noted that regarding these improvements, the company can start the technical procedures for operating its network. He also assured the importance of this investment that reached $600 million, pointing out to the painstaking negotiations in order to attain to this stage. He said "this agreement is a step toward our right to use all frequencies in the frequency spectrum, and it will be followed by other steps to operate other systems and to widen the network of "JAWWAL".
