Al-Quds Index in a narrow range with the approaching end of 2022

Al-Quds Index traded in a relatively narrow range, closing at 635.88 points; down by 0.53% than the previous weekly closing level. However, the general liquidity in Palestine Stock Exchange PEX was scarce amid lack of the general drivers and institutional transactions that may increase the trading value in the PEX from time to time and decline in the investors’ appetite that was touched through the slow transactions. On the other hand, the leading stocks- with heaviest weights and effects on Al-Quds Index- acquired the majority of trading in the PEX despite its scarceness, and in parallel to the routine anticipation of the trading types for the end of the year.

Regarding the economic indicators and according to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics PCBS, the overall Industrial Production Index IPI in Palestine reached 114.47 during October 2022 which indicates an increase of 3.69% compared to 110.39 in September 2022 (Base Year 2019). IPI for October 2022 increased due to the increase in the activities of water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation by 7.46% which had a share of 1.84% of the total industry, and the activities of manufacturing industry by 4.87% which had a share of 87.89% of the total industry. While, the activities of mining and quarrying decreased by 7.00% which had a share of 2.89% of the total industry, and the activities of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply decreased by 5.76% which had a share of 7.38% of the total industry.

On the other hand, the listed companies accelerate to determine dates to hold their board of directors BOD’s meetings to discuss the financial data for the end of November 2022 and the estimated budget of 2023. In this context, the BOD of both the Arab Islamic Bank AIB and the Arab Palestinian Investment Company APIC will be holding a meeting on 15/12/2022. Also, the BOD of Jerusalem Pharmaceuticals Company JPH will be holding a meeting on 18/12/2022. Moreover, the BOD of the National Bank TNB will be holding a meeting on 21/12/2022.  Also, the BOD of the National Carton Industry Company NCI will be holding a meeting on 24/12/2022.
