American officials said that United States will commit (500) million dollars for the Palestinian government that is led by moderates in the West Bank during the donors" conference on Monday. Thefunds will be directed to provide (5.6) billion dollars, which the representative of the quartet committee Tony Blair hoped to gather to save the deteriorating Palestinian economy and strengthen the institutions that will become the backbone of the future Palestinian state.
The officials said that American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will offer this commitment at Paris donors" conference tomorrow, Monday. The officials spoke yesterday and stipulated not to disclose their identities because the figure was not announced yet and could change slightly.
It is noteworthy that Rice can"t promise to implement the undertaking, because Congress must verify it. This amount includes approximately (400) million dollars the White House has already announced, but not verified by Congress so far.
