The Chief Executive Officer of Palestine Stock Exchange Mr. Ahmad Aweidah participated in the meeting of the General Assembly and the 51st annual conference of the World Federation of Exchanges in South Africa’s Capital, Johannesburg. The representatives of Stock Exchanges discussed the ability to maintain the stability, sustainability and liquidity of the financial markets worldwide.
Mr. Ahmad Aweidah pointed out the importance for Palestine Stock Exchange in participating in this important international event. He added: “we had the opportunity to participate in the meeting of the General Assembly and the 51st annual conference of the World Federation of Exchanges after upgrading the membership of Palestine Stock Exchange to become as an Affiliate in the Federation. This opportunity allowed us to directly interact with the major stock exchanges officials, organizational committees and the monetary policymakers in the world”.
The participants in this international event discussed major issues, such as: the financial industry and its regulatory regimes after the world’s financial crisis, the major challenges and future opportunities of the financial markets in addition to how to develop better models to maintain the sustainability of the financial markets’ operations in terms of the capital market products, financial instruments, technological environment and trading & after trading services.
It should be mentioned that the World Federation of Exchanges is the largest compound of Stock Exchanges in the world, and is headquartered in the French Capital Paris, and comprises of 52 bourses from various regions of the world, including three Arab stock markets: Amman, Egypt and Casablanca. The next meeting of the General Assembly and Annual Conference of the World Federation of Exchanges is scheduled to take place in Taiwan in October 2012.
